Fashion has always been about creating your own unique identity. Personalizing your garments is the ultimate way to stand out from the crowd. Custom print socks add a one of a kind pop to any outfit

WHAT ARE CUSTOM PRINT SOCKS?

“A sock with a print right?” Yes and a whole lot more.

For many, socks are just a necessary undergarment, a simple piece of clothing for warmth and comfort. In the past decades though, socks have become more of a fashion statement and popular accessory. Socks bearing their own designs reveal a lot about the wearer's personality, showcasing their fun and creative side.

Because most people either wear their socks hidden or wear socks with uniform, mundane designs, flossing a pair of unique custom print socks is a sure way to set yourself apart, illuminating your whole outfit and adding a sense of intrigue to your fashion choices.

Custom print socks are a great way to get your business noticed. Outfit your staff, add them to your merch line or gift them to your loyal customers. Custom print socks are great for gift packets at group events such as bachelor parties, baby showers product releases.

TRADITIONAL CUSTOMIZING METHODS

Customized socks have originally been manufactured by dye knitting, known as the Jacquard method, a simple technique whose name gives away its process, knitting designs into the fabric by use of needles. Although a cost-efficient way of mass-producing customized socks, it is limited in variations, one-offs, and most importantly design details.

Jacquard sock designs are coded into knitting machines. This is complex and time-consuming, and the fabrication process runs slow. This makes custom socks very expensive and have a high MOQ (minimum order quantity). The biggest downside to manufacturing dye knitted socks is its limitations in design detail. The finest machine knitting needles are unable to create fine intricate designs, giving a pixelated look to the design, especially when view from close up.

HOW ARE CUSTOM PRINT ON SOCKS MADE?

As textile manufacturing techniques improved, a printing process called sublimation was invented. Commercialized on printed T-shirts, socks, and sportswear, this simple yet high yielding process allows the manufacturer to print designs onto paper, place the paper onto each side of a blank sock, and through the use of a heat press, adhere the design directly onto the socks.

Sublimation is a great technique for custom print socks on demand but it has its downsides. Sublimation can only be done on socks that are made of 100% polyester or 95% polyester and 5 % spandex. Full pattern sublimation socks need page sizes that match the maximum printer size to cover the sock completely and leave 2 slightly visible creases which take away from the design’s overall look

Advancement in printing technology has brought us to Direct to Garment printing (DTG), digital printing, or 360 digital printing which in contrast to sublimation, can print designs on a variety of materials such as polyester, wool, cotton, bamboo, etc.

Using a Digital Printing Machine, DTG sock designs are printed directly onto the socks and are then curated by heat, making it a quicker and easier process.

360 digital printing technology allows your design to be completely wrapped around the sock, creating custom all over print socks with an almost invisible seam.

Our Digital Printing Socks Machine is quite magical. A blank pair of socks are placed onto a roller covered with reusable protective paper. Using a CMYK ink system, the design is meticulously sprayed onto the socks while the roller rotates and the printer head moves along the length of the roller. These digital printing socks machines can fabricate 50 pairs of socks per hour. This system allows for both custom print socks in bulk and custom print socks no minimum orders.

Once the socks have been covered completely, they are placed in a special rotating Electric Tunnel Heater where they are cured at 180 C for 3-4 minutes. This brightens the colours and bonds the design to the fabric. Our electric tunnel heaters have an output of 300 pairs of socks per hour.

CONCLUSION

At UNI, the sky is the limit. We can do it all, from our full service of customized and personalized 360 digital printed socks of high-quality materials, to the sale of our printer machines, tunnel heaters, and accessories for complete customer printing product solutions to start your own custom printing business.
